Angular Contact Steel Bearings are designed such that there is an angle
between the races and the balls when the [angular
contact bearings] is in operation. The races, retainer and balls can be made
from various steels such as 52100 Chrome Steel or 440C Stainless Steel.
Angular Contact Ceramic Hybrid Bearings are designed such that there is an
angle between the races and the balls when the bearing is in operation. The
races and retainer can be made from various steels such as 52100 Chrome Steel or
440C Stainless Steel. The balls are typically made with Silicon Nitride (Si3N4)
ceramic.
Single Row Angular Contact Bearings are
designed for applications where the ability to carry both axial and radial loads
is required. To accomplish this, the inner and outer
raceways are offset in the direction of the bearing axis. The standard
contact angle is 30°.Double Row Angular Contact Bearings are designed for
applications where the ability to carry high axial loads is required. They can
carry a substantial amount of radial load as well.
The design of Double Row Angular Contact Bearings is the equivalent of a
pair of single row angular contact bearings adjacent to each other. These
bearings are highly beneficial where rigid axial location of a rotating
mechanism is needed.Single row angular contact ball ina bearings feature raceways with high and low shoulders.
These opposing raceways are designed to carry thrust load in one
direction.
NTN can preload the bearings at the factory so that the correct load will
develop once the bearing is put into service. The bearings in this series are
assembled with a specific internal clearance, so that they will have a specified
contact angle under load. The standard contact angle used by NTN is 30° but, in
many cases, a 40° contact angle can also be specified. We also offer special
high-speed bearings with phenolic resin cages with a 15° contact angle.
Double row angular contact ball bearings have an inner and outer ring with
a double raceway. The two rows are so related that the contact angle is similar
to a pair of back-to-back single row skf bearings.
NTN’s 5200 and 5300 series offer continuous races and can carry thrust loads in
either direction. The 3200 and 3300 series have filling slots, so it is
necessary to mount them with the thrust load acting against the un-notched face
of the rings.
Due to their internal design, angular contact ball bearings can withstand
high radial-axial loads and reach high speeds. They are asymmetrical for
manufacturing reasons and can withstand unidirectional axial loads only. Angular
bearings are usually mounted in a group of two or more opposed preloaded units
with rigid or elastic spacers. Typically, the inner and outer raceways and balls
are made of chrome steel. Where operating conditions are severe, bearings may
have ceramic balls creating a hybrid bearing.
